Support Education
Viola Barrios' quiet, personal and diligent charity work serves as a model for giving.

Little Viola
Foundation president Louis Barrios' open letter asks for community participation in education awards.

From time to time, Viola's Huge Heart Foundation partners with other community entities and businesses in charitable events. The Foundation was one of six recipients of proceeds from the inauguration of "North Star Gives," a North Star Mall charitable event honoring San Antonio's outstanding philanthropists. Diana Barrios-TreviƱo gives talks or cooking demonstrations for Christus Santa Rosa, Labatt Foods and others who have made tax-exempt donations to the Foundation in lieu of a stipend normally paid to her.

Each year, during the month of July, both Los Barrios, at 4223 Blanco Road, and La Hacienda de Los Barrios, at 18747 Redland Road, celebrate Viola's birthday (July 6) by offering Viola's Heart Cake for sale, whole or by the slice. The restaurants cover the costs of producing the cakes. The Foundation partners with KTSA Radio in the month- long promotion carried out to great effect on the air daily on weekdays by both the Trey Ware and the Jack Riccardi programs. The proceeds from the event go to the Foundation.
